What is slime?
Slime is a mixture of glue and activator (borax is commonly used). In Science, it is considered a Non-newtonian fluid like quick sand! This means that slime acts like both a solid and a liquid.
Why do I love it?
Slime continues to take the world by storm through satisfying videos and more. However, the true reason slime takes a place in everyone’s heart is because it is therapeutic. Slime is a multi-sensory experience that has the ability to relax people of all ages. Since slime stimulates four out of five senses (touch, scent, hearing, and sight) it can promote stress relief.
How do I use slime?
Slime can be removed right out of the jar and stretched.
Stretching, squeezing, and spreading are three ways you can play with slime. But, how do you use it? Slime can be a wonderful addition to your self-care routine. Here are some ways to add slime to your daily life:
Start the day off right with an Energy Boost slime. Awaken your senses to the sweet aromas of fresh orange, lemon zest, and grapefruit.

How do I care for my slime?
Although slime is the best, it does need to be cared for. Below are the fundamentals of slime care.
PREVENTING BACTERIA:
- Always wash your hands before and after using slime.
- Store slime in an airtight container such as a jar/lid or ziploc bag.
- Use slime on a disinfected surface. You are welcome to use your slime activator (borax + water) to wipe over your surface to disinfect it.
PREVENTING SLIME DEATH
- Use your slime in short bursts. All handmade slimes are prone to drying which will leave your slime shriveled. Be mindful while playing to stop your slime from drying out prematurely.
- If your slime has been overplayed, you can add one tablespoon of warm water to it. This will bring a little bit of life back into the slime.
How do I tell if my slime has been overplayed?
- The slime will appear dry, brittle, and shriveled.
- The size of the slime will have become smaller.
STICKY SLIME
- Slime melts due to hot temperatures and time. When a slime melts, it can be reactivated to its perfect texture!
To activate your slime, follow the steps below:
- Warm one cup of water (about thirty seconds in the microwave)
- Add one teaspoon of borax powder to the water. Mix until completely dissolved.
- Let the solution cool.
- Once cooled, add activator (borax solution) to slime little by little. I recommend adding 2-3 drops at a time. Then knead your slime until fully combined. Add more drops until consistency has been reached.
**PRO TIP: It takes a couple minutes of kneading for the activator to take effect. Make sure to knead well before adding more activator.
**Adding too much activator can result in a ruberry stiff slime. If this happens, read below.
STIFF SLIME
- Slime can stiffen due to cold temperatures, overplay, and over-activation.
- If your slime is stiff because of the cold, set the slime (in its original container) in a warm area of your home.
** Near the kitchen while cooking, close to a fireplace, etc.
- If your slime is stiff because of over play, see preventing slime death.
- If your slime is stiff because of overactivation, there are a couple options.
- Let you slime melt with time.
- Leave it in a warm area of your home.
- Use citric acid deactivator. Read below for the recipe.
To deactivate your slime, follow the steps below:
- Warm one cup of water (about thirty seconds in the microwave)
- Add one teaspoon of citric acid powder to the water. Mix until completely dissolved.
- Let the solution cool.
- Once cooled, add deactivator (citric acid solution) to slime little by little. I recommend adding 1-2 drops at a time. Then knead your slime until fully combined. Add more drops until consistency has been reached.
**PRO TIP: Citric acid solution is VERY strong. You will ont need more than 5-6 drops to soften your slime. Please keep this in mind.
